Undercover Operations and Informant Management

COURSE SYNOPSIS

The first segment of the class will be Informant Management. During this block, the officer will learn the basic definitions of Informants, Confidential Informant (CI) Recruiting, CI Policies & Procedures, Record Keeping, Case Law Regarding CI’s, Liability, How to Utilize CI’s, Documentation in Reports, and Scenario Exercises.

The second half of this course will be Undercover Operations. During this block, the officers will learn about Confidential Informant Buys, the Undercover Officer’s Role – Preparation & Planning, the Team Members Role, Operational Plans, Deconfliction, the Supervisor’s Role in an Undercover Operation-Duties & Responsibilities, and Scenario Exercises.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course is designed to improve the student’s ability to handle/manage informants and safely execute and/or minimize risks associated with undercover operations.
