SYNOPSIS

The Oregon-Idaho HIDTA is teaming with the Northeast Counterdrug Training Center to provide free training for new and experienced law enforcement officers in the efficient, safe, and legal protocols for developing, managing, and deploying confidential informants in narcotics cases.

OBJECTIVES

Students will complete the course with greater familiarity and knowledge in the following areas:

  • How to identify and avoid potential “problem” informants and integrity issues.

  • Developing and using a variety of informants.

  • Briefing, debriefing, and interviewing informants.

  • Registration process, cooperation letters, informant contracts, payment paperwork, informant testimony, and other topics.

  • Officer safety, informant safety, and informant integrity.
