SYNOPSIS

This hands-on course provides new narcotics officers with a comprehensive overview of key responsibilities in their role as investigators. Through practical exercises, students will gain experience in working with informants, conducting investigative interviews, performing physical surveillance, managing undercover operations, and executing warrants.  

Designed to guide officers through the entire investigative process—from gathering intelligence to prosecution—this course equips participants with the essential skills needed to effectively handle narcotics cases.

·         Drug identification and recognition: measurement, pricing, and slang

·         Current narcotic trends and threats relating to Transnational Criminal Organizations

·         Operating in a multijurisdictional environment

·         Informants: vetting, development, management, control, and use of informants

·         Tactical operational planning, Intel Planning, and collection

·         Writing search warrants and conducting warrantless searches

·         Micro lab investigations

·         Physical and Electronic surveillance

·         Narcotics crime scene management: report writing, evidence inventory

·         Conducting consensual encounters and searches

·        Basic drug enforcement operations

Basic Narcotics Investigations is a 10-day (80 hour) course.
